Sealants

Molar teeth have deep and narrow grooves on their chewing surfaces—too narrow to be cleaned with the bristles of a toothbrush. Food and bacteria collecting in them cause tooth decay and cavities to form. Dental sealants are liquid resins placed into these small grooves, resulting in a smoother surface that is easier to clean and less prone to decay. Sealants play an important role in preventing dental caries from occurring.
